The third annual Sun & Stars Signature Event benefiting cardiac and cancer patient care programs at High Point Regional was a success raising over $118,000! High Point Regional Health Foundation conducted its third annual Sun and Stars Signature Event on Friday, October 4, 2013 to benefit the cardiac and cancer outreach programs as well as the women's center at the hospital.

A special evening event was held at the High Point Country Club where guests enjoyed dinner and a private concert featuring the legendary Little River Band, well known for setting all time records in Top 10 hits for six consecutive years in the 70's.

"Our goal with the Sun and Stars Signature Event has been to raise much needed funds for some very important patient care programs at High Point Regional while establishing an annual tradition for the hospital and the community" said Denise Potter, vice president, Foundation/Public Relations and Marketing. "We have netted more than $300,000 in just a few years since the events inception and are extremely appreciative of the tremendous support from our event sponsors and attendees as they have made all this possible.  This year we were also very grateful to have a special gift provided by Old Dominion for the purchase of heart monitors for our women's center birthing suite."

"I was truly honored to co-chair the third annual Sun and Stars fundraising event for High Point Regional Health Foundation along with Frosty Culp" said Don Webb.   It was encouraging to experience the overwhelming caring support from our community especially towards those who cannot afford their medical care and treatments.   We are thrilled the proceeds will benefit so many of these patients in and around this community."

Proceeds from the 2013 Sun & Stars event benefited LoveLine, an outreach program for cancer patients seen at the Hayworth Cancer Center that provides assistance with medications and other critical health needs, the Heart Strides cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program and for monitors at the Esther R. Culp Womens Center.
